I’m good james, I learnt something fascinating in my anatomy class today.
Really? Tell me about it.
Sure!! It has to do with how the muscles contract and surprisingly james we never think about these tiny details when moving.
Muscles are like pulling ropes that help us move, they are made up of tiny parts that work together
Really? How does it work?
When we want to move, our brain sends signals to our muscles letting it know it’s time to work
Fascinating, and after that what happens?
The message reaches a meeting point between the nerve and the muscle, this point is called the neuromuscular junction
Here the nerve has to use a special messenger called the neurotransmitter
It’s like a key that opens a door for message to pass through
There are tiny gates and doors on the muscles. They open when the messenger (neurotransmitter ) arrives.
The voltage channels are like doors that open because of the message’s electricity.
There are also chemical gated channels that are like gates that only open when they sense the messenger’s key
Wow amazing
There are also tiny messengers callled calcium and ATP inside our muscles that play a very important role inside our muscles.
Haha yes, I guess you can call them that.
So they’re like tiny minions.
Our muscle also has two special team inside them and they are actin and myosin. They work together like a tug of war game. Actin pulls one way and myosin pulls the other way, making the muscle move.
The tiny messangers( calcium and ATP) tell the special time when to start pulling once the message comes from the brain.
Wow so much teamwork just for the muscle to move, and we don’t think too deep on how it works.
Exactly james, don’t you think that muscle movement is amazing
