  • This is the event that started the French Revolution. After the King summoned the Estate General Meeting to discuss France’s financial issues, on June 20th, the Third Estate deputies found themselves locked out of the meeting room, suspecting a plot from the others, they then moved to a tennis courtroom besides and swore an oath that they would never separate and stop meeting until a written constitution has been established. The king responded by sending troops to quell uprisings over food shortages.
  •  After troops to quell the uprising, the revolutionaries saw this as an act of aggression. Upon hearing that the Bastille had a large supply of gunpowder, a mob of people marched there. The bastille's governor, however, would not comply with the crowd, refusing to give up the gunpowder. The event would escalate when a group of people the mob were able to enter the Bastille. Fearing an invasion, the Bastille fired into the crowd but upon hearing that the Bastille has opened fire, the mob stormed the Bastille. The Bastille fell and was ordered to be demolished by the Revolutionary Government.
  • After tension grew from the Storming of the Bastille, a crowd mostly made of working class woman marched from Paris to Versailles. The purpose behind the march was varied, but the main reasons was that some people wanted bread for their family and that they wanted King Louis XVI to return to Paris, away from the influences of the aristocracy. At one point there was up tp 30,000 people who took part in the march. Then, finally King Louis XVI appeared on the balcony and addressed the crowd, saying that he and his family, will return to Paris accompanied by the National Constituent Assembly deputies and the crowd itself.
