- Othello must return to Venice ASAP!!! Cassio must remain in Cyprus...
- Lodovico arrives in Cyprus bringing news from Venice. Desdemona tells Lodovico of the problem between Othello and Cassio, but she can't figure out why. Othello becomes angry at the continuous mentions of Cassio.
- Dearest Othello, I have brought news from Venice!

- Cousin Lodovico please help me fix my husband and Cassio's relationship! I admire them both and wish they would work it out!
- Othello becomes angry at Desdemona for persistently bringing up Cassio's name. This furthers his idea that Desdemona is cheating with him. Othello reaches a breaking point and slaps Desdemona, surprising Lodovico.
- MY LORD! What in all things on earth and heaven?!?
- SLAP!!!
- DEVIL!
- Lodovico is angry at Othello for slapping his wife. From his angle, Desdemona is an obedient and caring wife. Othello refuses to apologize and claims that if he wants her to feel better, he will have to take care of it. Desdemona continues to cry.
- Othello go and tend to your obedient wife! She did nothing to deserve that strike!
- Those art crocodile tears... if you shall want her to feel better you shall take care of it, for I will not apologize!
- My lord, what on earth did I do to deserve this!?!
