  • “If you push the button,” Mr. Steward told him, “somewhere in the world someone you don’t know will die. In return for which you will receive a payment of $50,000.”
  • “I think you’d better leave,” And take your button unit with you.”
  • 1. “It offends me,” 2. Arthur shook his head. 3.“Because it’s immoral,” he told her.

  • And the that night right before falling asleep Nomra though to herself "Norma closed her eyes. Fifty thousand dollars."
  • 1.“Doesn’t it intrigue you?” 2.“Wouldn’t you like to know?”3.“Why?”
  • It was just getting dark in new york city when Norma and Arthur had a mysterious package show up outside their apartment door. Norma brang it inside to find an unknown button in it with a note on the bottom of the package that stated “Mr. Steward will call on you at 8:00 P.M.” At first Norma didn't think much of the button. and just kinda ignored it and set it off to the side.

  • “Would you like me to return the button unit?”
  • "She hung up angrily.Certainly not“
  • Later that night at exactly 8 Oclock a man named Mr.steward had rung their doorbell. Norma went to go answer the door thinking it was just some silly sales pitch Author had thought the same. Mr.Steward was offended that they thought this, and assured them it wasn't a sales pitch. he then went on to explain what would happen if they chose to push the button. After hearing about the button Author was extremely anger and told Mr.steward to leave while Norma stayed quiet.

  • Reaching out, she pressed it down. For us, she thought angrily.
  • After Mr.steward had left Norma and Author attempted at having a conversation while getting ready for bed about their feeling on the button but their views were quite different. Because Author thought it was immoral and Norma was so curious and intergied that she didn't care whether it was immoral or not.

  • “My dear lady,” Mr. Steward said. “Do you really think you knew your husband?”
  • “You said I wouldn’t know the one that died!”
  • The next Before leaving for work Norma had grabbed the card that Mr.Steward left, without Author knowing. And while at work Norma decide to call the number on the card and ask some questions about the button. After asking all the questions she was curious about Mr.steward asked if she wanted the button back and she responded with no.
  • Even though Norma had told Mr.Steward she didn't want the button he returned it anyway. She and Author got into another argument about the button that night but the next day was when Norma really started to think about pushing the button. after much selfish thinking, Norma decides to push the button!
  • A little After pushing the Button Norma got a call from the Lenox hill hospital. as she answered the phone the doctor informed her that her husband had been in a subway accident and died. Norma first thought was Authors' life insurance for $25,000, with double indemnity. And then she remembered the man saying she wouldn't know the person who died he responded to her saying “Do you really think you knew your husband?”
