- there were four territories, two for the british and two for the boers. all though they were in the same lad the non-whites had no voting rights.

- non-whites took up 75% of South Africa's population, but only got 13% of the land. They had less education and social rights.
- Stage 4: Recovery
- Non-white kids started marching in a peaceful protest and police ran after the kids and shot and killed 69 of them and injured 150.
- As the white rulers go against the non-whites they make a law where all school must speak Afrikaans.
- In 1990 the bans on the ANC and the PAC were lifted and they held a meeting. Mandela was released from jail and became the head of the ANC. The meeting with Mandela and De Klerk to discuss political changes for non-whites.
