  • We want respectGive it to us
  • Democratic Rights

  • Mobility Rights
  • Flight from PEI to Alberta is about to take off!
  • Fundamental Freedoms include that everyone is free to: practice any religion or no religion, express their beliefs in public, think their own thoughts, speak their minds, listen to others views, express their opinions, meet with anyone they like and be a part of demonstrations if they are peaceful (For example a peaceful protest). There are limits to the freedoms listed. Like you may not be able to express your religion or opinions if it infringes the rights of others. Another limit would be is everyone has the freedom of speech but this speech must be respectful.
  • Legal Rights
  • I am here to search your house. You have to let me in
  • You cant search my house without a permit!
  • Democratic rights consist of: everyone can vote if they are over the age of 18, the government elected can only stay in power for a certain amount of time (five years) uness there is a national emergence and MPs have a majority vote to delay the election, and members of Legislative assemblies must sit at least once a year.

  • Canadians can enter, stay in, and leave Canada when they please. These are Mobility rights. Of course there are some limitations to this right for example we are in a pandemic right now so we are limited by the government on where we can go to keep people safe. There are also set rules on provinces that cause you to live in that province for a certain amount of time before you receive the health and welfare benefits in said province.
  • Language Education Rights
  • Legal rights include: Rights to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure, for example a cop can not search your house without a warrant The right that make sure individuals are treated fairly at every stage of the justice process. The right to have protection against unreasonable laws, these laws could be ones that lead to imprisonment or harm. Rights to be protected against arrest without good reason, for example the officer must have a reasonable belief that said person committed the crime. There are many rights after arrest some examples are, innocent until proven guilty, the choice not to testify at your own trial, and be tried within a reasonable amount of time. The last of the legal rights is the right to have protection against cruel punishment.
  • Equality rights make sure everyone is treated with the same respect without discrimination. Equality rights are in place for everyone and disregards personal characteristics like: race, origin, sex, age, religion, disabilities, etc. This means under the law everyone is to be treated the same and entitled to the same rights and benefits provided by the government laws and policies. Equality doesn't always mean people are given the same though, really a better word for it is fair. Equality rights are not to give equally but more to balance peoples differences. People who have disadvantages get more to create equality sometimes.
  • Outside of Quebec Canadians have the right to go to/send their children to French schools if: their mother tongue is French, attended or is attending primary and secondary French school in Canada. This ensures minority educational rights to French speaking communities outside of Quebec. This applies to all provinces including Quebec the only difference is in Quebec it it English minorities not French.
