- Our main character Max is abnormally tall, he's an eighth-grader struggling with school. Since his mother passed and his father is in prison, he lives with his grandparents who he refers to as Grim and Gram. We also learn about his friend, Kevin, that met in Pre-K but was re-united with when they moved into the neighborhood who's a genius but incredibly small. Kevin is nick-named Freak and together Max and Kevin call themselves Freak the Mighty.
- Climax
- As Freak and Max start to hang out more often they start going on adventures. One of which included them finding a purse. They then decided to bring the purse back to its rightful owners Loretta and Iggy who seemed to have a connection to his father nicknamed 'Killer Kane.
- Falling Action
- Then Max's father Killer Kane gets released from prison. When he is released suddenly one night, his father Killer Kane(Max's father) sneaks into the basement and kidnaps Max.
- Resolution
- Then while Max was kidnapped and tied up, Loretta risks her life and undoes his ropes although she gets choked by Killer Kane and Kevin squirts a solution in Killer Kane's eyes. They then left and Max was saved and was able to come home.
- Freak then gets admitted to the hospital for a seizure on his birthday. However, this then leads to his death. He also gives Max a blank book and tells Max to write a book telling the story of Freak the Mighty.
- Max then starts mourning the death of his best friend Kevin and writing the story of Freak the Mighty. The theme of Freak the Mighty is friendship and working together.
