- In ancient Greece, there lived a king named Midas. He loved his daughter, rose garden, and gold the most out of everything in he world. One time, he was in his garden and he stumbled over a satyr, half man, half goat, that looked very ill and sick.
- The satyr was very ill so King Midas fed, washed, and tucked him into bed. In the morning, his fever was gone and they conversed. Midas found out that the satyr belonged to the powerful god Dionysus of wine and truth. The next day Midas took the satyr home in his best chariot.
- OMG, it's gold!
- OH NO!
- The Satyr was a servant of a god, so he deserved the treatment the king gave although the king would do that anyway because of his kind heart. To Dionysus, the satyr was more than a servant but his teacher and good friend. In result, Dionysus granted Midas one wish. The king did not wish for anything for his daughter or his gold, but he wished for everything he touched to turn into gold because it was the only thing left.
- Take my wish back! Please, take my wish back and save my daughter!
- King Midas did not have hope on his wish that had been granted because when he sat on his chariot to go home, it had not turned to gold. But the King was still happy he helped the Satyr because Satyrs were never treated well because of what they looked like.
- Yet, when Midas pulled out his chair it turned to gold, in addition with the table and vase. Everything he touched turned to gold, so he called to his servants to make him a great feast. Everything looked too good to wait for his daughter for lunch so he grabbed a fistful of food, but what he didn't know was that his food turned to gold when he touched or had it in his mouth. His eyes filled with fear as he did not know what to do.
- As Midas wandered to his rose garden, his daughter was picking roses when she came running in for a hug and turned into gold. King Midas hung his head and cried while the tears dropped onto the roses and turned into gold. He did not care about anything else but his daughter as he prayed... And for one last time, the king's wish was granted.
