- He had risen up to the Continental Army in 1781.
- Martin served in different battles from 1776 and 1783
- He had been in most of the most important battles in history like, the Battle of Brooklyn, the Battle of Monmouth, the Valley Forge Encampment and the siege of Yorktown.
- In 1830, Martin published a first-hand account of the war titled "A Narrative of Some of the Adventures, Dangers and Sufferings of a Revolutionary soldier."
- Martin lived to be 89 years old.
- Martin passed away in May of 1850.
