- THE PERSUASIVE SPEECH
- TOMORROW WE'LL FIND A NEW GERMANY, OR US DEAD!
- On the 8th of November 1923, a meeting was held between the Bavarian Prime Minister, Kahr, 2 other senior officials and around 3000 buisness in a Munich beer hall. Suddenly Hitler, Goering and 600 stormtroopers burst in!
- GENERAL LUDENDORFF
- JOIN US
- Hitler forced Karl, Lossow and Seisser into a side room. Here, he offered them key jobs in either the Reich or Bavarian government that he was forming with General Ludendorff in return for their loyalty. However, despite being held at pistol point, the men stayed silent. Hitler then held the pistol to his head and said “I have four bullets in my pistol. Three for my collaborators, if they abandon me. The last bullet for myself!” This did not convince them, so Hitler dashed to the hall.
- THE CONFRONTATION
- Hitler stormed into the beer hall and addressed the crowd, stating that he shall take control of the direction of the national policy, and Ludendorff shall take over the army- “tomorrow we shall find either a national government in Germany or us dead!” Loud cheers filled the hall- Hitler's masterful lie had won the men over!
- THE CONSEQUENCES
- DONT WORRY, LUDENDORFF, I'LL GET US OUT OF HERE
- As if by magic, Ludendorff arrived and, despite being furious with Hitler after this complete surprise, his presence was enough to win over the other 3 Bavarian officials. An enthusiastic Hitler led the 3 officials up onto the platform where they each swore loyalty to the new regime. The crowd climbed on top of their chairs and began to cheer, then the meeting broke up.
- Hitler, Ludendorff and 3000 Nazis marched into Munich. Once they reached a narrow street called the Residenstrasse, they were met by 100 policemen that blocked their march- Kahr had ratted them out. Once Nazi yelled "don't shoot, Ludendorff and Hitler are coming!" Then, a single shot was fired, which was followed swiftly by a rain of bullets.
- WHAT ARE THE POILCE DOING HERE?
- During the fight, 16 Nazis and 3 policemen were killed. Hitler also fell to the ground to seek cover from the bullets, proving that he was a coward. Ludendorff was arrested during the Putsch, and Hitler 2 days after.
