  • How it ended.
  • Where's that man?
  • Louis moved to Eastern Canada after his father died in 1864. In Eastern Canada, he took employment as a log clerk. Later on, however, he decided that he would move back to his original home, in the Red River settlement.Riel was also a politician, as well as the founder of Manitoba, and the political leader of the Metis people.Louis was also known as a hero to many, but also a villain and betrayer.
  • English and Governments Perspective
  • Yes take them all away!
  • The Red River Rebellion was triggered by an extensive transfer of the territory of Rupert's Land from the Hudson’s Bay Company to the New Dominion of Canada. In addition, many people of the Red River started to resist a plan made by the Hudson’s Bay Company, Canada, and Britain. The Rebellion also happened because of rising concern and insecurity about the Metis and their rights, equality, land rights, a decline of bison, and also their survival and safety with new white incomers and settlers. Because of all this, Louis Riel and many Metis were left angered, hence, they went against the government and put up a fight, to be noticed and recognized.
  • All we ask are for our rights back! We're people too!!
  • The provisional Government agreed to give terms for the Metis to join and enter the Confederation. The Confederation would open up many possibilities. This being said, the rebellion led to the province of Manitoba being created, and the emergence of Louis Riel. Louis Riel also peacefully backed down before troops could arrive because he knew that the soldiers and troops would harm and hurt him. Once the troops arrived, it was finally the end.
  • The Government of Canada and the Jury at the time found that Louis Riel was being violent, betraying, and was making unreasonable decisions. Louis Riel beginning not 1, but 2 rebellions, did not help the government's opinion change. The government and English also saw Louis Riel as a traitor and outlaw. After the first rebellion, the Government continued to take away their lang and personal lifestyle rights.#160;
