- These are my parents...
- Dear diary,My life is a repeated cycle. I come home, sit in my room, and all i hear is the same old bickering of my parents. occasionally, things would begin to escalate and i can hear my mom crying and struggling to get away from my dad.
- I don't know what to do most times. I sit in my bed with my head buried underneath the pillows trying to tune out all the sounds until the morning comes...and everything repeats. I often wonder why we don't leave.
- A FEW WEEKS LATER...
- My room is for the most part my safe space. I spend most of my time in there when my parents are arguing because my mom doesn't like when I hear them.
- *sobbing and crashing*
- NO MONEY NO JOB!!!!!
- Welcome to my life. I live with my parents and basically their only conversations involve fighting so Im used to it.

- I waited until the right time and I find the courage to finally escape a few days later. I was told to go to a safe house in the middle of the night and thats exactly what I did.
- My dad came home really drunk this night and I was sent to my room.
- I came out of my room and found my mama bleeding and shaking on the floor. I couldn't stand to see her like this.
- I need to go check on my mom!!
- I knew exactly what I needed to do this time to finally save my mom.

- Of course my mom lied and said she fell when the police starting asking questions...
- The best decision for me is to leave this place...i need a future...a real chance for a better life

- As I'm catching up with my bestfriend I am so distracted that I run into this man on the street...

- Dear diary,Leo is the one. He listens to me and actually notices me, unlike my parents. I've been sneaking out of the house every night to spend time with him and he knows whats best for me. He says he can get me a real job at his company!!
- I think i'm gonna go live with him...I don't see why not. If my parents want me to be truly happy then they will understand. Maybe I just won't tell them though...
- This was the day I decided to leave and runaway with Leo to start a new life.
- Leo landed me a job at the nightclub he owns in Mexico City.

- I'm was so excited! I was finally getting the life I deserved. Or so I thought...
- Dear diary,I was very very wrong about Leo. He knew exactly what I was missing in my life and he told me everything that I needed to hear. After taking on the so-called special job, I learned that it was working as a prostitute.
- I don't what to do or how to feel. My heart is broken. How could someone so sweet and loving betray me like this. He used my vulnerability to his advantage, feeding his own power and wealth.
- This is when he promised me that it would be only for a few weeks and that i will still get paid and be kept safe.
- Little did I know that this better life would turn into 5 long years of rape and torture.

- Dear diary,It has been a few weeks since my escape and it was a success. I'm doing my best to move forward with my life and try to forget about this traumatizing event. To do this, I have been working for the organization to help prevent this from happening to other girls. I know exactly how they are feeling and by helping others it is slowly but surely healing me as well.
- Living through this event I recognize the the impact of living in poverty that the desperate need for basic necessities can lead to vulnerable decisions. Traffickers hold so much power and sway over their victims that by the time these innocent girls are aware of whats going on it's too late. I hope to save as many girls as I can and also spread awareness to prevent human trafficking.

- Dear diary,I feel sick this morning. I asked to take the day off due to me nonstop throwing up. Now that I have time to myself to think...well I don't even know what to think anymore.
- I probably deserve this. I shouldn't have abandoned my own family and run off with someone I thought I loved. This is my fault, I belong here.
- I knew something was wrong 9 months ago. I ended up getting pregnant from one of the many guys. I gave birth to my baby girl, Lola.
- Please Leo this is not just another girl, this is a baby!!! She needs a future.
- I am keeping this baby and you ever tried to escape it will be the baby that gets hurt. So be smart and don't do anything stupid.
- It was at this point that I knew i needed to get out.
- Dear diary,I know it's been awhile but i've been dealing with the birth of my child...Leo told me that he was keeping the baby and now I know for sure I must find a way to save me and Lola.
- I think i'm going to reach out to some of the other girls I have met in this job. I know they say it is too dangerous to try to escape but I don't feel like I have any other option. I need to be brave for Lola.
- Karina, one of my friends I met through the job, told me about a local organization that helps women that are being trafficked.
