- I forgot to check the prices on the veggies I bought! How do I know how much they were??
- Well that's easy, you spent $40 in total and bought 3 carrots and 4 tomatoes, I spent $18 and only bought 1 carrot and 6 tomatoes.
- But that doesn't help!
- How about we go to a café and I'll explain it more.
- So 3 carrots plus 4 tomatoes equals $40. We solve the equation for C which leaves us with 3c+4t=40 c=18-6b
- So carrots are C and tomatoes are T.
- Ew they're talking about math. I'm gonna go clean in the back...
- Then we substitute the value of C which gives us 3(18-6+t)+4t=40.We solve the equation for T and end up with 1.
- Which means each tomato was only a dollar!
- Right! But we aren't done yet. We have to substitute the 1 we got from T which gives us the equation c=18-6(1).We then solve the equation for C.
- This isn't as hard as I thought it was!
- That's right!See? It wasn't hard at all!
- After we solve the equation we get C=12.So our solution is...?
- Carrots were $12 each and tomatoes we $1 each!
