- Hi! My name is Alfred Wegener!I was born in Berlin, Germany in 1880. I studied astronomy but it was not earthy enough for me. So I tried meteorology. I came to believe that the continents were originally joined together. But, I needed solid evidence.
- Some of my observations were:- there was a close fit between Africa and South America.- Mountain ranges matched together (e.g North America with Scotland)
- BOO!
- If you look at the U.S.A and Europe you will see that both have similar plants and fossils.
- Boo!
- But when I said things to the scientists they did not agree with me because i did not have a good enough explanation.In the end I had to develop my theory (Pangaea theory) with supporting evidence.
