- Hi my name is Alonso Alvarez de Pineda in the year 1519 I was the first European to map the Texas coastline the significance of my voyage led to Spain's interest in the Gulf Coast region.

- Hello my name is Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca in between the years 1528-1536 I was exploring Florida for Spain, but on the way back me and my men were shipped wrecked on Galveston Island . Thankfully the Karankawa tribe provided us with shelter and food. Me and my men were traveling from tribe to tribe as servants,healers and traders. We used this knowledge to stay friendly with the Native American tribes. In 1536 me and Estevanico the first African American to explore Texas went to Mexico City and told our story's of what we had seen.The significance of my voyage was I provided insight into the lives of the Native Amercians lives and geography sparking into further exploration in Texas searching for gold
