- The Tax
- It all started a few months ago when the British taxed our tea....
- They will never know this tax is made to get the British East India Company out of debt!
- Hello colonists! Your amazingly humble king has asked for all colonists to pay a tax on tea. This tax will help fund this great country
- Boston Tea Party
- This really angered us colonists so much! This was taxation without representation!
- The group of men also dressed up as Native Americans!
- A group of patriots decided to take action against the tax. They took almost 100,000 pounds of tea and dumped it into the Boston Harbor!
- Even though the men at the "Boston Tea Party" caused trouble for the British, there was only one way for us to actually get what we wanted.

- The King got REALLY mad and made laws that the colonists hated even more than the tea tax!
- This made what we were about to do even more reasonable.
- We wrote a document declaring our independence. We wrote that all men were created equal, that people had the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that people should revolt against their government if they failed to provide them those rights!

- A group of 56 men, including me, Thomas Jefferson, sat down and decided we didn't want to be taxed and treated horribly by England
- All men are created equally so we shouldn't have to be taxed for things that people in England aren't!
