- Well, seems like we won't be able to build urban areas over there.

- Gated Community
- What's it like in there?
- Cramped. But the food is good.
- Exurbs are areas outside the dense suburban areas in a city. These areas are usually still connected to the inner city, but have lower housing density and high growth. This image depicts two people, in suburban and exurban areas respectively, longing for the other's location due to their different pros. An example of an exurb would be Miami County in Kansas.
- Zoning
- Hey! You guys can't build in this zone!
- Oops...
- Greenbelt is usually a stretch of open area inhabited with certain landmarks (parks, farms, etc.) that limit the sprawling of urban areas. An example of a greenbelt is Ottawa Greenbelt, in Canada. This picture shows two urban planners running into a greenbelt, which denies them more urban land.
- New Urbanism
- We could plant some trees here and liven up this side.
- A gated community is a community that has controlled entrances. An example of a gated community would be Lakewood Plaza, in Modesto California. This picture shows two people, one in the gated community and the other simply a wandering citizen.
- Central Business District
- You here for the job interview?
- Zoning is the collection of laws that regulate how certain geographic areas may be used. Any city you could name most likely has zoning laws, such as Modesto or San Francisco. In this picture, these workers are building in a zone designated for something besides construction.
- New Urbanism is the practice of creating neighborhoods that incorporate greenery and a variety of housing and job types. An example of new urbanism would be Harbor Town in Memphis. This picture shows two people practicing new urbanism by planting agricultural crops in an area to diversify the area.
- Well I'm thinking we should put some bushes over here.
- The central business district is the main business and commercial center of a city. This is where most of the jobs are located. An example of a CBD is the Chicago Loop. This picture shows multiple people shopping at a CBD, which are usually known for their diversity and size.
