Event 3
I DONT CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU DID! YOU ARE GETTING A PUNISHMENT.
I mustn't get caught!
Frederick Douglass is sent to work at a field, and is assigned to an evil slave breaker, Covey, who works them to the core.
Climax
YOU DON'T OWN ME, I'M NOT GOING DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT!
YOU HAVE DEFIED ME, AND YOU WILL PAY.
Covey beats Frederick often, and when Frederick is ever exhausted from a tired work day, he will be taken and beaten till he bleeds.
Resolution.
“...however long I might remain a slave in form, the day had passed forever when I could be a slave in fact.”
Douglass wants no more to do with Covey's beating so he decides to run away without Covey noticing.
When Douglass returns, Covey tackles Douglass, but this time Frederick won’t hold back and will fight for himself.
After he fought back and won, Douglass regained his confidence and knows now that he will never fully be enslaved again. Maybe in form, but not in heart.
