  • You're right but believe or not, there's chemistry behind washing your hands. A virus-infected cell makes lots of building blocks (RNA, proteins, and lipids), which then spontaneously self-assemble to form the virus. There are no strong covalent bonds holding these units together therefore, you do not necessarily need harsh chemicals to split those units apart. Soap dissolves the lipid (fatty) bilayer of the virus which makes the virus fall apart (www.theguardian.com). In other words, wash your hands.
  • The virus mainly spreads from person-to-person. You need to make sure you're 6 feet apart from people. It also spreads through respiratory droplets created when an infected person coughs, sneezes or even talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are near or it can be inhaled into the lungs (www.cdc.gov). Remember to stay away from animals or pets as well. Remember, COVID19 can be transmitted among people AND animals (facts.net).
  • In case we do need to go out, how can we prevent from getting or spreading the disease?
  • Let me give some interesting facts about the virus. Under a microscope, coronaviruses appear with crown shapes. Additionally, "corona" means crown in Latin hence the name. The coronaviruses are sensitive to heat so higher temperatures and increased levels of relative humidity decrease the viability. With that being said, another fact is that the coronaviruses are rampant in winter or fall seasons (facts.net). Makes sense, right?
  • Is there anything else that we need to know about the virus?
  • As long as you follow my recommendations and others to keep you safe, you should be fine. In fact, worrying reduces your ability to come up with good solutions to the issues you’re facing. Therefore, the most helpful thing you can do right now is staying focused on your goals you have during this quarantine to better yourself (www.psychologytoday.com). Pick up new hobbies and bonds while continuing this social distancing. Use this time to achieve goals that you were too busy for before and do not make irrational decisions. Most importantly, invest your time in things that makes you happy and stronger than before. Remember, we're all in this together.
  • One more question, what can we do to relieve our worries?
  • We'll take that into consideration. Thank you for relieving our tensions and teaching us more on COVID-19.
  • Like I said, as long as you remember the information I told you, you'd be fine. Thank you for your time and I'll be going now.
  • You learnt your lesson AND you apologized when I didn't even have to try to convince you? I'm definitely satisfied.
  • I'm sorry mom, you were right. In order for me and others to be safe, I should stay at home. The more time we spend practicing social distancing, the less quicker COVID-19 spreads and the more quicker I can go out without endangering others.
