Hey, today I will explain what force means, what 3 contact forces, and 3 non-contact forces are.
Here is the last example of contact forces. Elastic force is when a material stretches and rebounds back.
For example, how a sling shot works is you stretch the rubber band and it rebounds causing the ability to fling something into the air.
I am here with my friend Jake. Jake is pushing the ball. This is an example of force. Force is a push or pull.
He is also showing applied force. Applied force is a push or pull when you are touching something. Aplied force is a contact force.
I am here with another friend. Here is Doug, he is rubbing his back on the tree. This is an example of friction. Friction is a contact force and it happens when two things rub against each other.
For our first non-contact force, we are going to talk about gravity. Gravity is a force of attraction. This is a science teacher.
When I let go of the apple, the apple will fall to the ground. This happens because of gravity.
Another non-contact force is magnetic force. Magnetic force is attraction or repelling of one magnet to another.
We are going to talk about electrical force. Electrical force is a non-contact force and is charged materials are atracting things.
An example of electrical force is the static in your hair caused by a ballon.
