- Original Japanese Sushi
- Examples of the places that have their own kind of narezushi are Hokkaido and Tohoku where they call it Izushi. Instead of just wrapping the fish with rice and seaweed, they would mix the rice with yeast and put fish, veggies, and sake which would then be wrapped in a bamboo leaf. The modern sushi that most people might be more familiar with was invented by Hanaya Yohei.

- Importance of Sushi
- The origin of sushi actually dates back to around second century B.C. and was used to keep fish good for consumption. The first version of sushi was actually made in China, and it was actually referred to as narezushi. To make narezushi, they would wrap the fish in seaweed and rice so that when it was time to eat the fish they would throw the rice and seaweed out but they wouldn’t eat it.

- It was made so that the Japanese people could have an easy meal to eat when they don’t have the time orenergy to carry a big lunch box. Similar to the fast food that we can readily buy and eat. When itwas first invented however, it went by the name nigirizushi instead of sushi. It can also representthe eating habits of the Japanese people very well because Japanese people are well known fortheir regular consumption of fish and rice which are key ingredients in sushi. They most likelyused these ingredients in nigirizushi and narezushi because of how they can be easily accessedby the peasants or common people. Sushi can contribute to the creation of a global culture andto modern society because it allows different people from around the world to try and experiencethe delicious cuisine in Japan. It also represents the fact that Japan has its own unique culture andcan’t just be seen as nothing special and can’t just be written off as some other place in EastAsia.
- To conclude, sushi used to be a method for preserving fish in China which found its way to Japan where they varied the original method in some places. It is important because it allowspeople to experience Japanese cuisine and eating habits. Finally, it shows how Japan has its own unique and amazing culture.
