- i found out that HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus while AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a disease.
- Most people get the virus by having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV. Another common way of getting it is by sharing drug needles with someone who is infected with HIV. The virus can also be passed from a mother to her baby during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.
- You can get HIV from contact with infected blood, semen, or vaginal fluids.
- how can HIV be diagnosed and how is treat it?
- A doctor may suspect HIV if symptoms last and no other cause can be found. Most doctors use a blood test to diagnose HIV infection. If the test is positive (meaning that HIV antibodies or antigens arefound), a test to detect HIV DNA or RNA will be done to be sure.It is treated in a combination of medicines called antiretroviral (ARVs) therapy, or ART in order to reduce the amount of virus in your body and help people to live long and stay healthy.
