- The Republicans had voted for Aaron and Jefferson and now there had been a tie. When there is 2 votes both of the candidates is gonna be a tie but they choose Burr and Jefferson.
- each state has one vote and which voted in 36 ties which them Alexander Hamlition had to break the tie and step in to elect the president.
- We have to break this tie now! This cannot go on any longer. I will have my followers vote for Jefferson. He is not such a dangerous man.
- But Adams and Charles were already out of the race for the candidates. The vote was tied with Jefferson and Burr.
- Alexander Hamlition wanted the Federalists to vote for Charles Pickeny over John Adams because he didn't support his ally with France.
- if the candidate for the president doesn't have majority of the votes, the house chooses the president
- if no candidate for the vice president has majority of votes, the senate chooses the vice president.
