She mocks Macbeth by telling him that the dead can't cause hurt and only children are afraid of such things.

  • Macbeth continues to be frightened of every noise he hears and wonders if even the water of all the seas would ever be able to cleanse his bloodied hands.

  • Macbeth, however, wishes that he were unconscious so that he wouldn't have to think about the horrific deed.
