- When I was six I got a phone, a fully activated phone. Something very few kids had back in 2011.
- I would play on it every day, watch videos, do whatever I wanted. I had unlimited freedom with my phone as a six-year-old.
- Until one day I grew brave and snuck it into school.
- The only time I was allowed to play on my phone out of the house was on the way to school, which was only three minute drive at the time.
- So she obviously called it, to try and find it when it wasn't in the car when she got home. Needless to say I got in trouble.
- After that I could take it any where. If I could play on it you bet I was playing on it.
- The Effects?
- Since I grew up with technology, whenever I had a curiosity, I could look it up in an instant. Only ever at a superficial level as I would lose interest as soon as I knew what I wanted.
- I was never bored, I always had my phone and it's endless entertainment.
- Due to the vast entertainment options provided by my phone, it has become considerably harder to focus on tasks without getting bored and losing attention.
- Sometimes, I felt lonelier than I actually was, despite having plenty of friends. Friends whom I just needed to talk to more and connect with, a task made even easier with phones!
- All in all, I believe I turned out just fine. I continue to contribute to society, perform well in school, with just a few bumps along the road – that's inevitable when you are one of the first of anything. Nevertheless, I wouldn't change it for the world.
