- The USA bought the midwest for $15 million dollars which is equal to $370 million dollars today.
- Stephen Long
- Great American Desert
- Lewis and Clark went to Kansas and said it was beautiful with all the animals and scenery.
- Jackson's Speech
- Zebulon Pike went to Kansas and thought it was a desert and did not like Kansas one bit.
- Indian Removal Act (IRA)
- Stephen Long also went to western Kansas just like Pike he agreed with Pike but he called it the "Great American Desert".
- Jackson said, "why live in the west when you could live in the east and live the American dream." Also, he talked about how they should push Indians out of their new territory and out west.
- Americans forced the Indians out of the east so they went west and some went northwest. Different tribes had to cross paths which caused battles.
