- Todd Amos and Bud get into a physical fight in Bud's bedroom. And Mrs. Amos is not happy about it "Todd started kicking me but his slippers couldn't hurt as much as his fists". PG- 7-8

- Bud is asked to say his mother's name and he yells out his mother's name. And Herman E Calloway realizes that Buds' mother Is his daughter. "Herman is not your father. But Angela Janet is his daughter's name. If what you're saying is true, Lord helps us all, it looks like Herman might be your grandfather." PG-
- IM NOT LEAVING MY ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Bud sees these rocks with carvings on them, inside of Herman E Calloway's glovebox, and realizes that he has the same ones. And Herman E Calloway does not believe him. "I looked over to Mr. C. and said, I've got some of these, sir. He said, Hmmm. Really, I've got some too." PG- 129
- Didn't I say to do no rummaging through that room.
- See I told you I have the same rock!
- The Amos's gets mad at Bud for fighting with Todd and they lock him in the shed. But Bud decided to break out of the shed and run away. "I grabbed the handles of the window and gave on more jerk. I guess being scared gives you strength because this time it flew right open". PG-17
- After Herman E Calloway figures out that Bud is his grandson he goes to his room and locks it and doesn't leave his room. But he eventually gets over the fact that Bud is his grandson. "MAN! Ever since he heard me call my momma's name Herman E. Calloway had locked himself up in his room and wouldn't come out." PG-
- when Herman takes another look at them he thinks that Bud stole them from his home. And Bud gets angry because He did not steal them. "He said, "Where did you find these? Didn't I tell you not to do any rummaging around in that room you been sleeping in?" PG- 130-131
