  • Act 1 scene 1 part 2
  • It's okay Romeo, there are plenty of ladies out in the world. Eventually you will find someone more beautiful than Rosaline.
  • I don't know what any of this means. I'm illiterate.
  • Act 1 scene 2 part 1
  • May I marry your daughter. The wedding will be on Thursday.
  • You have my Consent. I shall host a party to celebrate. I just gave that serving-man a list of invitations.
  • The Montegues and Capulets got into another fight, but the prince stopped them, and threatened to kill both houses if they disrupted the peace again.

  • After the battle, Benvolio tries to help Romeo through his grief of finding out the love of his life isn't marrying. Benvolio tells Romeo that there are plenty of women out there and eventually Romeo would find someone more beautiful that Rosaline.

  • After the battle, back at the Capulet's manor, Paris talks to Lord Capulet if he can marry Juliet. Lord Capulet was doubtful at first, but eventually sad yes and decided to host a party. Then gave a paper full of names of people who are invited to the party and gave it to an illiterate serving-man.
  • Act 1 scene 4-5
  • Uncle, he's a Montegue!
  • While Lord Capulet and Paris were talking about marriage, Lady Capulet went to talk to Juliet about marrying Paris. Juliet basically tells them(in modern day terms) "I'll think about at the party." Even when the nurse went on and on about how good a husband Paris would be.
  • Are you sure you need to think about it. He's a pretty fine lad if I do say so myself.
  • While Benvolio was helping Romeo, the illiterate serving-man asked if they could read the list of names, which Romeo insisted. In his thankfulness, the serving-man said they could come to the party. Romeo was hesitant at first, but Benvolio convinced him to go.
  • Thank you for helping me read these invitations. If you want, you're welcome to come to Lord Capulet's party.
  •  On the way to the party, Benvolio and Romeo ran into their friend, blabber-mouth Mercutio, who was also invited, who went on and on about Queen Mab, the fairy's midwife. At the party, Romeo met Juliet, and they instantly fell in love. Tybalt saw Romeo and tried to get his uncle Lord Capulet to get Romeo out of here, but Lord Capulet refused and that he would punish Tybalt if he dared make a scene.
  • It's just Romeo. He's a good soul, so just let him be.
  • I love you, even though we just met.
