  • Children have been sick and they only address us now
  • Members of the Springville community. The department of health has been made aware of an outbreak of measles. We currently have 4 confirmed cases at Springfield Hospital, and all the 4 individuals are currently in isolation. The department of health has since assembled a task team of highly qualified, world renowned public health specialists led by Dr Ngcobo that will investigate this outbreak. Measles is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus. Infected individuals may present with fever, cough, runny nose, irritated eyes, vomiting, diarrhea and a rash. The rash looks like small, red, flat spots over the body. The rash does not form blisters, nor is it itchy or painful. Please go to your nearest healthcare facility immediately when you notice these symptoms. Measles is a vaccine preventable disease and can be contained.
  • That's a good question, well I am afraid my 6year old might be infected, she has been coughing non-stop and her eyes are reddish. Should I worry?
  • This Government, you always wait for things to get out of hand before you take action. Can you even guarantee us that our children will be safe from this disease?
  • My friend, now that these health people are here, why not report your daughter's symptoms and take it from there?
  • A mixed method research study was done using the Explanatory Sequential Design in the Springville community. A quantitative analysis was done from an electronic surveillance database sourced from Springville Hospital. The results from this analysis gave us information regarding demographics, numbers, age groups, gender, and common symptoms. What's important to note is that the disease symptoms are spreading more in children between the ages of 2 and 6 and many of them are coming from the Springville Pre-Primary School. From the lab analysis it was identified from the antibodies produced, that some of the children had never been vaccinated before.
  • . . . . .
  • Qualitative research revealed that two weeks prior to the onset of the outbreak, one of the infected children had visited relatives from overseas in an area that recently had a measles outbreak.
  • Furthermore, it was learnt why some children had not been vaccinated for measles. Upon contact tracing in-depth interviews were conducted with the parents of the classmates of the infected children.
  • Greetings to all members of Springville. We are glad to report to you that the task team has worked hard to ensure that the outbreak is being controlled. The findings have shown that vaccine hesitancy still exists in our community. Since measles is a vaccine preventable disease, we urge all those that are not vaccinated to get vaccinated as prevention is our best weapon in fighting this virus. Furthermore, we encourage opening windows, practicing hand hygiene frequently, covering of the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing and the use of alcohol-based hand rub.We are happy to report that there were no fatalities from this outbreak, infected patients are recovering well.
  • I am glad the task force did their investigations and created this vaccination drive for us, there has been so much information shared, I am bringing my son for vaccination tomorrow.
  • WELCOME TO THE MEASLES VACCINATION SITE.SPRINGVILLE CLINIC
