- The first war was over Sicily. Rome and Carthage fought in this war. The war lasted 20 years. The war started in 264 BC and it ended in 241 BC
- Result of second Punic War
- The Romans won. The Romans made Carthage pay a huge fine. The Romans had fought for so long and when they won they made them pay.
- Cause of third Punic War
- Carthage conquered southern Spain. The Romans hep the Spanish people rebel. So, in 218 BC, Carthage sent the great Hannibal to attack Rome. This began the second Punic War. Hannibal had about 46,000 men and horses. He also had 37 elephants. He marched them across the Alps and into Italy. Weather attacks and killed half the men and most of the elephants. They reached in 216 BC. Carthage had to build a navy but they also had to give up and pay another huge fine to Rome.
- Result of third Punic War
- The Romans won and the next Punic war would see who takes over Sicily. They both wanted Sicily but they couldn't have it. Only one army will win.Who will it be?
- Romans won and Carthage united with the Romans. More than 50,000 men, women, and children were enslave. The Romans now were even more successful and they have more power. They also have a bigger population.
- Rome burnt down Carthage and spread salt all over the ground so nobody can plant crops. The reason the Romans did this s because they couldn't have took over that land but since they had so much property already they didn't need that land.
