Laura and Loki Begin their day by feeding and taking care of the farm animals
So what are we going to do today Loki?
Lets venture out to the south pasture! I've got lots to show you today young one!
Both Cows and Pigs contribute so much. These cows here, are the main source for our Dairy milk and other dairy products.
These pigs over here provide us with delicious meat. There skin is also used to make footballs and their Hair is utilized to make toothbrushes!
So why are cows and pigs so important Loki?
Loki, why are chickens so important?
Well Laura, Chickens are actually the highest consumed meat in the U.S. They also provide us with eggs. Without them, our diet would be drastically different!
After a long day of teaching Laura, Loki drifted away in his sleep, resting up for another adventure with Laura.
Early morning7AM
Good morning Loki!
Good morning to you, young one! I hope you got a good nights sleep because we have a big day ahead of us!
What is this stuff called? do we eat it?
Out here, we have our crops. "Cash Crops" are a major influence in our economy and provide numerous resources for us. Corn, soybeans and wheat are a few of the major crops.
Shown here is another cash crop called cotton. After it is harvested, the cotton fibers are utilized to make clothing, fabrics, and other textiles. However, this crop does not thrive in certain regions and can only be grown in a particular kind of soil.
This here, is our Greenhouse. Unlike our crops, this is a housing unit for our other plants. Having a greenhouse provides plants with better protection and allows for better climate control.
Greenhouses also benefit the environment by reducing waste and decreasing energy usage.
That is so cool!I've always wondered what this was for!
Well guys I had such a blast today on our adventure. But all of this agriculture adventuring has me feeling tired. Lets head home for dinner!
Wow... I've learned so much today Loki! You've really showed me how amazing our little farm really is!
Did someone say food?!?!
So you see my child, Agriculture is an essential part of our existence. And it's up to us to carry on it's value and preserve it for generations. Because without it, we would not survive
