  • Akhet is the season of the Egyptian Farming Year. When the Nile overflowed, the river's water, mud, and silt washed up along the riverbanks, creating a productive growing area. During the flood, Egyptian farmers devoted their time mending and fabricating tools, as well as caring for their livestock. During this time, many farmers assisted the pharaoh in the construction of pyramids and temples.
  • Peret is the growing season of Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians ploughed the earth ready for sowing as soon as the river began to recede. They used hand ploughs or larger ploughs drawn by oxen. After that, seeds were sown into the freshly ploughed soil. The seeds were then pushed into the ground by goats and other animals walking across the fields.Wheat, barley, flax, onions, leeks, garlic, beans, lettuce, lentils, cabbages, radishes, turnips, grapes, figs, plums, and melons were among the crops farmed.
  • Shemu was the Egyptian season of harvest and started from March until May. A sickle was used to cut the grain. After that, the cut grain was bundled into bundles and hauled away. Wheat was used to make bread, barley was used to make beer, and flax was used to make linen cloth. Sandals, canoes, baskets, mats, and paper were all made from papyrus reeds that grew naturally along the Nile's banks. Fruit and vegetables were picked when they were fully ripe. Farmers raised cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, goats, and oxen for meat, milk, hides, and to assist with Egyptian farming.
