- "This is Achilles' mother rising from the sea with all her immortal sea nymphs--she longs to join her son in battle"(24. 58-60). This scene is significant because it shows how Achilles died a honorable death and was given the proper treatment after his death. This scene emphasizes the fact that Agamemnon and the Suitors did not die an honorable death like Achilles.
- "Father-I am your son-myself, the man you're seeking, home after twenty years, on native ground at last"(24. 359-360). Odysseus revealing himself to his father at last after being gone twenty years is significant because it shows Odysseus is finally getting settled back at home and all the people he loves knows he is back again, ready to take back Ithaca.
- "So Athena commanded. Terror bleached their faces, they went limp with fear, weapons slipped from their hands and stewed the ground at the goddess' ringing voice"(24. 586-588). Odysseus and Athena face an army back in town and they cause the army to flee Ithaca. This scene is extremely important because Ithaca is now at peace after all these years
