- Hello! I am Barack Obama I was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- When I attended Occidental College and Columbia University, I majored in political science. I later went to Harvard Law School which awarded me my law degree in 1991, and I became the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.
- I served in the Illinois State Senate from 1996 to 2005 representing the south side neighborhoods of Chicago. In 2007, I filed paperwork to run for president of the United States.
- I debated Hillary Clinton in 2008 in the Iowa Democratic Caucuses and defeated her with 38% of the votes.
- I Won the nomination for the Democratic primary election!
- During the 2008 election, I chose Joe Biden as my running mate and vice president and accepted the Democratic nomination for president. My candidacy made me the first African-American candidate in political history to lead a major party.
