- Charlie goes to take an Ink blot test to be possibly chosen for an experiment. The experiment claims to make him smarter.
- Climax
- Charlie is chosen and the Operation is done on Charlie by a set of doctors at the Hospital. The operation is painless as he is sleeping during it.
- Falling action
- Why... why can i not remember?
- Charlie starts learning more and Ms. Kinnian says he is making good, fast progress. He reads now at fast rates, knows many languages, can use a typewriter, and much more.
- Resolution
- Charlie becomes smarter than even his doctors and Algernon starts deteriorating. Charlie starts researching his own experiment and realizes he will too deteriorate and theres no way to reverse it.
- Charlie starts to deteriorate. Algernon dies and Charlie is forgetting how to spell and cant remember knowledge he once knew.
- Charlie finishes his journal and has fully reverted back to his old self. He writes in his journal that he's going to leave for a fresh start.
- "I'm sorry everybody... I'm leaving New York for good... Goodbye..."
