- I think we can all agree that no nurse goes into nursing because they like to work alone
- You know, we love interacting with patients, love interacting with our colleagues, and we all work to get the best results for our patients
- So what are the potential problems with teamwork? I know that when I find our teamwork is failing, it's often when communication is lost somewhere .
- we must continue to maintain communication. Another problem is also when you have nurses who don't like playing with the team, so they may not like being told what to do, or they just keep their heads down, they want to do their job and then go home.
- Another problem with teamwork where communication can break down is shift changes. This is a very dangerous time where things can be missed, because people are so focused on working hours, going home, see you later because someone else is taking over the 24 hours.
- The problem with that is we don't, no one comes home until the job is done. So when you're done with your work, you go help someone else. Nursing is the only job where you have done your job, you can do more work because other people haven't finished theirs.
- If you haven't done something or something needs to be done, it needs to be communicated. Often it can be missed when someone rushes out.
