- Maverick and Uncle Carlos's talk before the court hearing is a notable plot moment because it reveals both of their ability to put differences aside for their family. As they look around the neighborhood and reminisce on their childhoods, Carlos is not as distant from Garden Heights.
- Iesha helping DeVante, Kenya, and Lyric escape from King revealed how she expresses her love to her children, and how this impacts Seven's perception of her. Although she is a mostly absent mother, she does what she can to keep her children out of harm. Seven had suffered the most from her lack of support, and see's her attempt to help him as her wanting her kids off her back.
- Chris asking questions about black people after the protests show more of his willingness to connect with Starr and her culture, The events since Khalil's death have caused Starr to open up the other side of her life to him, and he now is putting in the effort to mix this with what he already knows of her.
