- As one walks the streets of Kiev, it's impossible to not perceive the incessant warfare. Of course, no one would visit Kiev in this current moment, for obvious reasons. The world has gone cold with fear, the economy has slowed down from a prospect of economical growth of 5% to 2%, and most of all,
- the people have lost hope.
- Religion, no matter it's power-hungry shortcomings, has always been a symbol of hope, a beacon for those who are lost and afraid. Religion finds people joining together, bonding over love and peace.
- To bring back that embrace of the community, is what I desire most.
- As a boy, my father owned a salt mine that is deep underground. What if I made a bunker, that also doubles as a church, not just as a calm dose fo. The church would be filed with images of Saint George, to fill the Kievan people with hope.
- As a priest, tough times have reached my soul. Not just from the war, but the daily routine of the mass was a refuge from the pains of my life. During a war, not many people want to walk out at such a open and vulnerable spot as a church. But that's when I had an idea.
