Dr. Mortimer calls on Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson after his friend Charles Baskerville is found dead. He explains that the Baskervilles have been cursed, die violent and bloody deaths, and are haunted by a gigantic hound with glowing green eyes. Holmes and Watson take the case.

Sherlock sends Watson to investigate at the Baskerville estate. While there, he meets many people connected to Sir Henry, including a mysterious man named Stapleton who does not like the fact that Sir Henry is interested in his sister Beryl.

After Stapleton's suspicious reaction to an escaped convict dying by the mystery hound, the detective confronts Ms. Lyons who reveals that Stapleton is the one trying to kill Sir Henry. They head to his house to set a trap and catch him in the act.

Falling Action
Sir Henry is almost killed by a gigantic black hound with flaming eyes. Holmes kills the dog, who is coated in phosphorous (thus, the glowing eyes). The reach Stapleton's house and with the help fo Beryl (his wife) they realize Stapleton has gone to the bog where he kept the dog and has presumably been sucked under and drowned.

Resolution
The truth comes out: Stapleton is actually Sir Henry's long lost cousin, who tried to kill of Henry so he could claim the Baskerville title. He is at the bottom of a bog, so Henry is now safe. Holmes and Watson return to London, satisfied that the case is solved.
