- Act I, Scene I: A ship carrying Alonso(King of Naples), Sebastian(King's brother), Ferdinand(King's son), Antonio, Gonzalo, and other ship-crew come across a frightening storm.
- Sailors: "All lost! To prayers, to prayers, all lost!"
- Act I, Scene II: As Prospero and Miranda watch the shipwreck play out, Prospero decides to tell her that he is the one who is causing the shipwreck using his magic. Questioning why Miranda asks the reason behind his action and he decides to tell her the history that went into this.
- Prospero: "'Tis time,I should inform thee farther"
- Antonio: "Oh,If you but knew how you the purpose cherish. Whiles thus you mock it! How, in stripping it, You more invest it! Ebbing men indeed. Most often do so near the bottom run.By their own fear or sloth.
- Act II, Scene I: While Alonso grieves over his son, thinking that he died, Sebastian, Antonio, Gonzalo try to look for him. While they are looking for Ferdinand, a spirit under Prospero's command makes Gonzalo and Alonso fall asleep; This gives Antonio the opportunity to convince Sebastian to kill Alonso.
- Act II, Scene II: Caliban, a monster under Prospero's command thinks a spirit has come to haunt him when Alonso's jester, Trinculo joins him trying to shield himself from the weather. Alonso's butler, Stephano follows behind and sees the men's legs mistaking them for a monster until he finds reassurance after hearing Trinculo's voice.
- Stephano: "What’s the matter? Have we devils here? Do you put tricks upon ’s with savages and men of Ind, ha? I have not ’scaped drowning to be afeard now of your four legs
- Act III, Scene I: Miranda speaks to Ferdinand (Alonso's Son) about a marriage proposal while he is working under Prospero's command. Prospero watches from a distance and approves of his daughter's decisions.
- Miranda: "I am your wife if you will marry me.If not, I’ll die your maid. To be your fellow. You may deny me, but I’ll be your servant, Whether you will or no.
- Act III, Scene II: While being drunk, Caliban tries to convince Stephano and Trinculo to help him get rid of Prospero and make Stephano the new ruler of the island. While this is happening, Ariel appears trying to confuse Trinculo and Stephano that Caliban Is a liar.
- Ariel: "Thou liest."
