Spanish Armada

- The Spanish Armada started because Sir Francis Drake destroyed 20+ Spanish Ships in 1587.
- They started sailing from Spain in 1588. There task was to overthrow protestant, and it was lead by queen Elizabeth I.
- They sailed up to the English Channel to link up with Duke of Parma in the Spanish Netherlands from there they would invade England.
- The Armada had anchored off of Calais, and the England decided to send in eight fireships, and when it turned dark the fireships attacked.
- In the morning the Spanish armada attacked with there full force. The Spanish ships were blown to the sea blanks.
- On Aug, 8 1588, The British Navy defeated the Spanish Armada off the coast of France. The Spanish Armada was a powerful fleet of armed ships and transport that tried to invade England
