Storyboard Text

  • In 1960 four young black men: called the Greensboro Four: Ezell Blair Jr, David Richmond, Frlin McCain and Joseph McNeil, organized a sit-in protest in a merchandise store that served food.
  • 'The day had arrived. The sit- in took place at the Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro. They were treated teribally the moment they say down.
  • Time to end segregation!
  • I want to be treated equally!
  • We are not going to serve you.
  • NO! WE ARE STAYING!
  • The restaurant policy was to only give service to white men. Employees refused to give service to the four black men and were asked to leave the establishment. The Greensboro Four refused to give up their seats and did not leave the place.
  • Get out! Or else we will call the police!
  • You should serve them, you could be an example to others!
  • The police arrived and told the owners they couldn't do anything because the young black men were not provoking anything.
  • Do not try to kick them out!
  • Can't do anything!
  • The next day the Greensboro Four brought more college black students to the restaurant to protest. Sit-Ins started to spread nationwide, this was an example of how they could spark change without having to use violence in protest.
  • The Greensboro Sit- in made a huge impact in history , ending segregation policies and implementing equal rights in the US.
  • I'm so glad I was able to help.
