- Hey, uncle Sam! So I told my mom how I wanted to trace back our genetics and she told me that you had some pedigree charts. So I was wondering if I could take a look at them!
- He really wants to look at the freckles pedigree chart.
- Of course sweetheart! We need to go to your uncle Sam's house so he can show us his pedigree chart.
- Of course nephew! I'll grab that for you. But did you know that freckles are known to be a dominant trait. This means if you have 1 allele for this trait you will have freckles. Cool right?
- Hey, mom! I was wondering if we could trace back our genetics.
- Really?? So will I get to see in the chart that great grandma Julie had freckles, like you told me?
- If he has that trait in his pedigree chart sweetheart, you will get to see how freckles were passed through our family and that your great grandma Julie had freckles!
- Now John, when you look at the pedigree chart you will see our family's heredity through many generations. You will even get a good idea of some of the traits your great grandparents had.
