Storyboard Text

  • The first step to an unrestricted license is being of age to test for a license. In British Columbia you must be 16 to test for an L.
  • It's my sixteenth birthday! I plan on trying to get my L today.
  • The second step is to book an appointment once you are adequately prepared for the knowledge test. And then on the appointment day you can head to one of the local driver licensing offices.
  • I have already studied for the knowledge test by reading 'Learn To Drive Smart' and I have even done practice tests on Road Safety and Signs. I think that I am prepared!
  • Learn To Drive Smart
  • After paying the admission fee it is time to take the knowledge test. You must score 40 out of 50 on the multiple choice test in order to pass and you must have a vision screening.
  • Oh no! I just realized that I had forgotten to download the Street Sense app to help me prepare for hazardous situations. I hope I can still pass.
  • Now that you officially have your L. Here are some rules for the road. You must display your L sign on the car and must be supervised by a 25+ valid driver. You also cannot drive between midnight and 5am, and you are allowed to only have 1 passenger aside from your supervisor in the car at a time.
  • Thankfully, I passed. Though I do suggest playing Street Smart for you all as it would have really helped you feel even more prepared. Now I am excited to try to receive my N.
  • One Year Later...
  • I am ready to take my N! I have studied the handbook from last year and 'Tuning Up for Drivers' as well as taking Road safety practice tests and used the app 'Street Smart.' I have also practiced driving with a reliable supervisor adult in empty parking lots and even attended a driving training school!
  • Now it is time for me to test for my N. I have had my L for 1 year and I am prohibition free.
  • Now with a Novice drivers license, you have fewer restrictions. You can drive without a supervisor. However you can still only have 1 passenger if they are not immediate family and you still must show the 'N' driver plate on your car.
  • I passed my Class 7 Road Test which qualified me for my Novice drivers license. Since this test required me to be examined while I drove to test my driving skills, I was nervous but my examiner said I drove safely and smoothly!
