- So today were going to talk about the types of ossifications. But first we have to reverse time to fully understand.
- WOW! I'm young again. So while I'm young let's talk about ENDOCHONDRAL OSSIFICATION.
- ENDOCHONDRAL OSSIFICATION is responsible for replacement of fetal cartilage skeleton with bone.
- It is important in the formation of long bones. It also takes longer time to form a bone. Endochondral ossification stops at 2 years old
- As we grown, INTRAMEMBRANOUS OSSFICATION is responsible for replacement of thin connective tissue membrane with bone.
- It is important for the formation of flat bones. It also takes less time to develop bones. Intramembranous ossification stops at the age of 18-21.
