- Na + Cl = NaClH2O = H2 + O2
- K + NaCl = Na + KCl
- NaCl + AgF = NaF + AgCl
- Ms Smith said, "That's correct, like Sodium and Chlorine combine to form Sodium Chloride. Now, the opposite of a synthesis reaction is a decomposition reaction, where a substance breaks down into two or more products, like water breaking down into Hydrogen and Oxygen."

- Taylor added, "The third type is called single replacement, which is when an uncombined reactant switches with an element in a compound, like when Potassium combines with Sodium Chloride to produce Sodium and Potassium Chloride."

- "Good job, Taylor. There is a similar type, double replacement reaction, which is when both elements in a compound switch with the other compound, just like Sodium Chloride combining with Silver Fluoride to produce Sodium Fluoride snd Silver Chloride."
- Neutralization Reaction is when an acid and base react to form water and a saltHCl + NaOH = H2O + NaCl
- "Your Turn, Jessica," said Ms. Smith, "What is the fifth type of chemical reactions?" Jessica glanced at the book, then replied, "Combustion reaction, which is when a chemical reaction produces energy in the form of light or heat, like fire, when fuel and Oxygen react to produce Carbon Dioxide and water."
- "Excellent job Jessica!" exclaimed Ms. Smith, "Now let us move on to the last type of chemical reactions, which is Neutralization reaction, which is a bit challenging..." Before Ms. Smith could finish her sentence, the bell rang signaling the end of the lesson time. "Oh, we aren't done yet, but that's okay. We will be continuing the rest in our next lesson.
