- A roller coaster is a machine which uses net force from pressurized gas to gain momentum/kinetic energy and make motion. About 414.5 newtons of force. The way it works is that the pressurized gas builds up pressure. The pressure is then released to push the cart really fast. So fast that the cart can completely ignore friction until the end of course. Another way this works is from magnets repelling each other to send the cart racing. These ways are an interaction with the roller coaster.
