- My legs are aching .My n eck is stiff but I can not give up we are already down to a half dozen. I should not give up I have Hassan at my back.
- Up and down the streets kite runner were returning triumphantly .they showed them off to their friends and parents but they stillknew the best was yet to come.
- You are almost there, Amir agha! Almost there!
- within another hour the the number of surviving kites dwindled from maybe 50 to a dozen.I was one of them. i do made it to the last dozen. I knew this part of the tornament would take a while because the guys who lasted this long would fall in simple traps like the old lift and dive.
- CUT HIM CUT HIM
- By 3 o clock in the afternoon, tufts of clouds drifted in and the sun hid behind them. Shadows started to lengthen. Spectators on the roof bundled up in scarves and thick coats.
- Right after a few minutes just as I knew it was me and the big blue kite.The tension in the air was as taut as the glass string I was tugging in my hands. I knew I had to play it smart. Hassan was was panting.
- The chorus of Cut him! Cut him! grew louder like Romens chanting for the gladiators to kill! kill!
