- Greetings! I heard there was a new canal that can take us to Buffalo! It is called the Erie Canal.
- Hello there, is there really something that could take us from Albany to Buffalo?!? That would really help the town... we should go!

- The Erie canal is a trade route which helped transport goods quicker, cheaper, and easier. It also helped the Manifest Destiny by moving west
- The Erie Canal goes through mountains by using pulleys and levers
- Thousands of people helped build the canal, including farmers, workmen, and Irishmen, but they ran into some trouble when building it...
- 1. Mud kept filling in what they dug2. Mosquitoes bit them so bad some people died3. They didn't have much food or medicine4. Many people got Malaria with no proper care or food
- Although there was some tough times, there was also some advantages
- 1. once winter came it drove away the mosquitoes 2. Helped the Manifest Destiny by moving west3. Ended up as a trade route and quicker transportation
