PILGRIMS
MAYFLOWER COMPACT
In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape Cod the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth, 1620.
WAMPANOAGS
The Pilgrims were a group of English people who traveled from England in search of religious freedom. They landed on Plymouth Rock in late 1620.
The Mayflower Compact is a set of rules written and agreed upon by the Pilgrims on how to live fairly in their new colony.
The Wampanoags were the original natives of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. They made peace with the Pilgrims and helped them thrive in Plymouth.

I was able to help the Pilgrims because I spoke English!
After their first successful harvest, the Pilgrims invited the Wampanoag people to a grand feast to celebrate. This later became known as the "First Thanksgiving".
Squanto was the Wampanoag tribe member who helped the Pilgrims learn to fish, hunt, plant corn, and survive the winter.
